Rural youth in Mexico. A review based on population censuses

This article presents the situation of rural youth in Mexico using data from the 2000, 2010 and 2020 Population Censuses. It describes the family, educational and labour trajectories of young people aged 15 to 29 living in rural localities, highlighting improvements in schooling compared with their parents, the persistence of precarious jobs for young men in agriculture and construction, and the heavy burden of unpaid domestic work for many young rural women.
