“For Sustainable Development, for the Future, for Rurality!”: Latin American Youth Gather in Colombia

The “Rural Youth, Sustainable Future” gathering, held in Palmira, Colombia, brought together young people from Latin America and the Caribbean to exchange knowledge, strengthen youth leadership, and build a collaborative community focused on sustainable rural development. Organized by YPARD in partnership with GIZ, AICS, and FAO, the event covered key topics such as climate change, agroecology, green jobs, land access, biodiversity, and youth participation. Its major outcomes included a regional youth manifesto and the creation of a Rural Youth Coalition aimed at influencing public policies in rural areas.
