Description
The article presents an initiative led by Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness to strengthen the agriculture and food processing sectors through an expanded apprenticeship programme. Over 300 young Jamaicans will receive hands-on training alongside industry professionals, supported by stipends and savings schemes, to develop technical skills and meet the demands of increasingly technology-driven agriculture. The initiative is aligned with plans to establish a high-level apprenticeship institute in partnership with the IDB and calls on poultry industry stakeholders and HEART Trust/NSTA to integrate apprentices into their operations to boost national productivity.
