Description

Latin America and the Caribbean face a low growth capacity trap largely explained by stagnant productivity, which has even declined in the last decade. Escaping this trap requires a deep productive transformation, which in turn demands scaling up and improving productive development policies under a new vision promoted by ECLAC. The report addresses four strategic and complementary topics: productivity improvement, science, technology and innovation, productive articulation through clusters, and environmental sustainability and social inclusion. These axes form a roadmap towards higher, sustained, inclusive and sustainable growth. The approach also seeks to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
