Description

This policy brief (No. 5, 2025) documents a pilot project that combined the implementation of a Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) with precision technology and digital tools. The project benefited more than 100 producers in three provinces of Panama. The results showed substantial improvements in production efficiency, profitability, and emissions reduction, as well as strengthened social organizations among those engaged in rice farming. Based on this experience, the brief proposes concrete guidelines to expand the model into a national policy for the sustainable transformation of Panama's rice sector.
