Description

This paper identifies a series of digital-based startups in Argentina and Uruguay that found in the Agtech sector important expansion opportunities, not only in local markets, but also in third countries, based on the capabilities of the founding team and the interaction with other actors in the ecosystem, e.g. users, incubators and accelerators, investment funds and science and technology organizations. These support spaces were central for entrepreneurs to identify business opportunities, obtain financing, develop and validate technologies, as well as, in some cases, find ways to scale their companies internationally. Finally, several obstacles are identified as limiting the growth possibilities of this sector and, in this direction, a series of proposals for the design and implementation of public policies are presented.
