Description

Food systems face the triple challenge of providing healthy food for a growing population, securing livelihoods, and enhancing environmental sustainability. Sustainable productivity growth, driven by innovation and efficient resource use, is crucial. According to the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2022-2031, global agricultural productivity must rise by 28% in the next decade to achieve Zero Hunger and meet the Paris Agreement. Yet, slowing growth undermines climate resilience. The report highlights four policy priorities: phasing out uncompetitive support, redirecting resources to R&D, strengthening innovation systems, and ensuring stable regulatory environments for long-term investment.
