Description

Jamaica's Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, led by the Hon. Floyd Green, is developing a Youth in Agriculture Policy, expected to be launched in 2021. This policy prioritizes allocating at least 20% of state land to young farmers under the age of 35, in addition to improving access to technical training and specialized services. The initiative seeks to overcome historical challenges in the youth agricultural sector through an innovative and practical approach. The launch of the Youth in Agriculture Roadmap, developed by the 4-H Clubs of Jamaica, complements this policy with a comprehensive guide for young people interested in agriculture.
