Description
In southern Caribbean Costa Rica, traditional and conventional banana production systems managed by small farmers were assessed using FAO’s SAFA tool. Results showed that traditional systems scored higher in overall sustainability, especially in environmental integrity, economic resilience, and social well-being. These findings highlight the potential of traditional practices to support more sustainable agriculture in this key banana-producing region.
