Description

This report analyzes the global state of food security and nutrition in 2023, with special emphasis on the effects of urbanization on agrifood systems. The document examines how urbanization processes are transforming food supply chains and access to healthy diets across the rural-urban continuum. It presents evidence on nutritional disparities between rural, peri-urban and urban areas, highlighting particular challenges faced by populations in different geographical contexts. The report provides policy recommendations to improve food security and nutrition considering urbanization dynamics. It includes analysis of updated data on hunger, malnutrition and access to nutritious foods in different regions of the world.
