Description

Small-scale agriculture dominates agricultural production in Central America and the Andes. However, the region has productivity levels and rural poverty rates below Latin American averages. Digital agriculture solutions have the potential to help smallholder farmers overcome the challenges they face. Several key elements are required for the development of a dynamic and sustainable digital agricultural ecosystem. In this report, we look at how the events of the past four years have shaped the enabling environment and adoption of digital agricultural services in six Latin American countries. After a thorough analysis of more than 100 solutions and their actors, we outline several key trends in digital agriculture in the region. In addition, we offer recommendations to various stakeholders, such as agritech companies, donors, NGOs, investors, and governments, for future collaboration that can drive the expansion of the digital agriculture ecosystem across the six countries.
