This document constitutes the final report of the Study on Competitive Conditions in the Cheese Sector in El Salvador. Its objective is to analyze the economic characteristics of the different stages of the value chain and evaluate the competitive conditions in this sector. The study of the cheese sector complements the studies on competitive conditions within the dairy sector in El Salvador, which began in the first half of 2009 with the study of competitive conditions in the Dairy Agroindustry. It was decided to conduct this effort in two stages, primarily to focus the in-depth analysis on each of the sector's main product ranges—milk in the first case and cheese in the second—and thus develop specific conclusions and recommendations for each subsector.
