Description

The document presents a comprehensive analysis of the state of food security and nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean during 2022, jointly developed by FAO, IFAD, PAHO, WFP and UNICEF. This technical report evaluates the main indicators of hunger, malnutrition and access to healthy diets in the region, identifying trends, challenges and existing gaps in food security. The study provides updated statistical data on prevalence of undernourishment, moderate and severe food insecurity, and costs of nutritious diets to guide regional public policies. The publication constitutes a fundamental tool for governments, international organizations and decision makers in designing strategies to improve affordability and access to healthy diets. The report emphasizes the need to transform agrifood systems to guarantee the right to adequate food in the region.
