This document presents the systematization of the Family Farming Plan (PAF) in its Food Security component, implemented by the Government of El Salvador with technical support from FAO. The PAF-Food Security focuses on families practicing subsistence agriculture to contribute to rural poverty reduction and improve Food and Nutritional Security for 325,000 families in prioritized territories. The program works on six comprehensive lines of action: agricultural production and diversification, nutrition and household, natural resources, associativity, rural micro-entrepreneurship and institutional strengthening. The initiative capitalizes on previous experiences such as PESA and the Ahuachapán Project, using participatory methodologies like Field Schools, Household Workshops and Demonstrator Families for horizontal knowledge transfer.
