The National Family Health Survey 2008 (FESAL-2008) was a demographic and health study conducted directly by the Salvadoran Demographic Association (ADS) in El Salvador. This survey had the active participation of the Inter-institutional Advisory Committee (CCI) and received specialized technical assistance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) based in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The main objective was to collect updated information on demographic indicators, reproductive health, maternal and child health, and other aspects related to family health in the country. The results of this survey provided fundamental data for the formulation of public health policies and monitoring of social programs. The methodology employed followed international standards to ensure national representativeness and comparability with similar studies in the region.
