Description

The Strategic Plan is a key component of the organizational strengthening strategy initiated with the participatory development of the Bosandino Ecuador National Network in November 2021, alongside organizations involved in guarango exports, commencing in December 2021. Since its inception, this process has progressed through the collaborative creation of Internal Regulations and Bylaws, foundational documents that articulate the environmental, social, and commercial attributes of the Guarango Project. This guide encapsulates the extensive reflection and collaborative planning undertaken with these organizations to imbue guarango harvesting with a viable business perspective, while remaining mindful of the rural development context in which peasant economies function. The adopted value chain approach aims to implement robust business strategies that enable strong competition in the international market, managed directly by peasant organizations. This is predicated on the understanding that increased income directly benefits thousands of families, women, and older adults, for whom guarango represents a significant alternative for bolstering the peasant family economy and fostering local development.
