Description

An average worker or peasant starts their day at 4:00 a.m., the usual milking time, while a laborer arrives home between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. These are sectors forced to work double time for low wages, and of course, they do so out of fear of losing their jobs, fear of not finding another job, fear of hunger, among other fears and needs. It is a fact that Ecuador's peasants have historically been affected by sectors that have systematically accumulated resources based on the dispossession of others. The Atlas of Agri-food Economic Groups in Ecuador is a study that seeks to highlight the historical ties between economic and political elites and the mechanisms by which they manage to capture the state. The book is a collective effort of 20 researchers and at least 16 non-governmental organizations, universities, and research centers, supported by various social organizations.
