Description

To empower trainers in promoting a more just and sustainable agrifood system, FIAN Ecuador, in collaboration with the Ombudsman's Office of Ecuador and with support from FIEDS and Misereor, developed the Food Re-existence Booklets. These three methodological guides form the core of the "Sobre La Mesa" training program, which aims to strengthen the understanding and application of "Enforceability Mechanisms, Agroecology, and Practical Actions for the Defense of the Human Right to Adequate Food and Nutrition (DHANA) and Food Sovereignty (SOBAL)" among peasant, Afro-Colombian, and Indigenous families in Chimborazo, Esmeraldas, and Santa Elena. The booklets offer a comprehensive 48-hour learning journey, organized into three approximately 16-hour sessions that balance theoretical knowledge with practical application (8 hours each). The activities within these sessions are carefully tailored to resonate with the specific realities of the beneficiary populations in each of the three provinces. Ultimately, these booklets serve as a vital theoretical and practical resource for individuals dedicated to building a more equitable and sustainable food system, providing in-depth knowledge of agroecology and its critical debates concerning DHANA, food sovereignty, and peasant rights, with a strong emphasis on fostering transformative solutions through effective trainer development.
