Description
The EUTOPIA journal presents eight articles that examine how family farming has been integrated into the public and social agenda of the countries of the Region. Two key concepts structure the analysis. 1. Territorialization: This dimension underscores the importance of the distribution and visibility of family farming in the national landscape. The case studies demonstrate strategies of resistance and survival in the face of dominant agribusiness models. 2. Institutionalization: Family farming has built close ties with the state and civil society, becoming bureaucratized to ensure sustainability. This includes the creation of new state institutions, collaborations between farmers and politicians, as well as greater representation of family farming in the public sphere. In conclusion, the authors emphasize that the future of family farming is linked to rural and urban citizenship, fostering participatory and sustainable development models.
