Analysis of public policies related to the bioeconomy
Technical report
03/04/2024
Description
The study analyzed programs and regulatory frameworks in Mexico related to the bioeconomy to propose their redirection towards sustainable practices in the agricultural, fisheries, livestock and forestry sectors. Sixteen laws, 14 guidelines and 21 social programs (2018-2023) were reviewed, in addition to interviews with experts. Although some programs are aligned with the bioeconomy, they lack an explicit focus and have suffered budget cuts. It is suggested to incorporate bioeconomy in key programs, strengthen research, promote public-private collaboration and improve access to financing, promoting sustainable and climate change resilient productive systems.
