Sustainable cattle ranching platform of the Americas

The document presents the results of the first phase of the Sustainable Cattle Raising Platform in the Southern Cone and Bolivia, led by IICA and IDB. The initiative seeks a regional approach to sustainable beef production in the CAS countries. Based on integrated sustainability, value chain and sustainability metrics, the study involved more than 150 experts and generated reports on production systems, GHGs, animal welfare, biodiversity and water balance. A framework of indicators was designed and identified gaps in science, technology and policy. The findings highlight the need for more research on biodiversity, carbon and water, promoting regional cooperation and alignment with international agreements.
