Untapped Opportunities in Global Value Chains: The Case of ADD Countries

This study develops quantitative methods to identify and prioritize opportunities for export diversification and foreign direct investment attraction in Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, and Panama. Using four distinct approaches based on product and country proximity, the research identifies industries with untapped potential and highlights key obstacles hindering these countries from capitalizing on these opportunities. The findings suggest that while some sectors represent unique opportunities for each country, others present potential for joint research efforts or collaborative strategies among ADD countries.
