Description

Growing concern about carbon in imported goods has prompted climate trade measures in the US and the EU. This paper analyzes these regulations and their impact on Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, considering the carbon footprint of their exports and the possible adoption of restrictions by their trading partners. It highlights the vulnerability of agricultural products and, above all, of fossil fuels, the main drivers of their economies. Finally, it proposes strategies to diversify exports and adapt to new climate regulations.
