Description

The leading international organizations met at IICA Headquarters in Costa Rica to discuss the need for a new generation of public policies to accelerate agricultural development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The two-day workshop addressed issues such as globalization without governance, the new demands of international trade and the weakness of multilateralism. Participants agreed that international cooperation must act as a catalyst for transformations with an integrated vision, taking into account the different national conditions. The importance of a science-based approach and the emphasis on financing, taking into account regional fiscal constraints, were emphasized.
