Description

The document aims to understand how women and youth in rural areas of Latin America and the Caribbean can use digital tools to strengthen family farming, promote sustainable practices, and enhance food security. The methodology includes statistical analysis and 31 in-depth interviews with key stakeholders from 14 countries, such as rural leaders and government officials. The findings highlight that women and youth are essential for advancing the digital transformation of agriculture, as they demonstrate greater openness to innovation. However, challenges persist, including limited connectivity, high costs, and a lack of digital skills, especially in remote areas. Three models of digital integration are identified: intensive use of advanced technologies, tools supporting the value chain, and regions facing environmental barriers. The study concludes with policy recommendations, emphasizing that public-private partnerships and digital literacy programs are essential to empower these groups and ensure economic growth, sustainability, and inclusion.
