Description

The study examines the evolution of the water sector in Trinidad and Tobago since independence in 1962, documenting more than 60 years of development. Institutional challenges, water resources management, water supply infrastructure and wastewater treatment are analyzed. The paper assesses the institutional ecosystem of the water sector and its evolution after independence, exploring the availability of water resources and the dynamics between development, availability and access. It also proposes recommendations and strategies to stabilize and prepare the water sector for the future in the context of climate extremes, variability and change.
