Implementation of gender-responsive climate policies, plans, strategies and action as reported by Parties in regular reports and communications under the UNFCCC
Technical report
05/09/2024
Description
The document summarizes countries' progress in integrating gender-sensitive climate policies into their reporting to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). From 166 documents submitted between 2022 and 2024, an increase was observed in the consideration of gender in national adaptation plans (NAPs), nationally determined contributions (NDCs), and long-term low-emission development strategies (LT-LEDS). It is highlighted that 85.2% of countries included references to gender, with a notable alignment towards capacity development, knowledge management, and the implementation of gender-sensitive policies. However, mentions of gender continue to concentrate in terms of female vulnerabilities and the collection of gender-disaggregated data is limited.
