Description

The UN, through resolution A/RES/74/209, established 29 September as the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (FLW). Reducing food loss and waste is crucial to mitigating climate change, as food waste accounts for 7% of global greenhouse gas emissions and occupies 30% of agricultural land. In addition, FAO and UNEP are leading efforts to measure and reduce loss and waste, in line with Target 12.3 of the 2030 Agenda.
