Description

Latin America and the Caribbean face growing risks from climate change, which is already displacing thousands of people. Phenomena such as El Niño, droughts and rising sea levels threaten food security and force vulnerable communities to migrate. Although it is difficult to predict these displacements, it is crucial that communities prepare with adaptation and resilience strategies. Colombia has made progress in creating a regulatory framework to address climate mobility, including laws, public policies and collaborations between national and local authorities. Its experience offers useful lessons for other countries in the region.
