The Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) profile in Colombia highlights several practices that are already being implemented to address climate change. These include silvopastoral systems, agroforestry in crops such as coffee, banana, and cocoa, the use of improved pastures, efficient water management in irrigation districts for rice, and the use of pest- and disease-resistant varieties. These practices seek to improve resilience, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and increase sustainability in different regions of the country. In particular, agroforestry is applied in more than 35% of coffee systems, with potential for expansion to other crops such as cocoa and fruit trees. This practice contributes to climate regulation, improves soil moisture retention, and captures carbon, although it has not shown significant increases in agricultural productivity. Despite these implementations, the overall adoption of CSA practices remains low.
