Description
The profile of Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) in Argentina highlights that the country is a regional leader in agricultural research and international cooperation. The incorporation of CSA in Argentine agricultural development is based on practices such as direct seeding, crop rotation, and precise fertilizer management, all aimed at improving water use efficiency and reducing soil erosion. In addition, a low-emission agricultural sector is promoted through controlled pasture management, rotational grazing, and the use of certification schemes. Regarding specific practices, direct seeding is widely adopted in soybean, corn, and wheat crops, representing approximately 80% of the country's arable land. In addition, technologies such as silvopastoral systems and pasture management using the Normalized Vegetation Index (NDVI) are used, which improves the resilience of productive systems to climate variability.
