Technical report
21/03/2021
Description
The Artificial Intelligence for Agriculture Innovation (AI4AI) initiative was launched in August 2020 by the World Economic Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution India, in collaboration with the Government of Telangana and supported by various ministries. With over 60 partners, the initiative facilitated weekly workshops from October 2020 to March 2021, reviewing emerging technology use cases in agriculture.
The partners classified these technologies into three categories: game changers, long-term interventions, and easy wins. Their findings will guide the next phase, which involves launching pilot projects and developing evidence-based frameworks through field learning. The report aims to assist agricultural leaders both in India and globally in leveraging technologies like AI, IoT, blockchain, and drones.
Additionally, it offers a platform for stakeholders, including agri-industries, start-ups, technology firms, and academia, to understand the agricultural landscape and engage collaboratively. Given the complexities of agriculture and the rapid technological advancements, a focused, multi-stakeholder approach is essential to address the associated challenges and opportunities.
