Description
The EU's anti-deforestation law, which requires companies to prove that their imports do not contribute to deforestation, is facing increasing pressure from states, companies and lobbies. Although it was approved with broad support in 2023, the proximity of the 2024 elections and criticism from exporting countries and political sectors have generated requests to postpone its implementation. Despite this, the European Commission is continuing with preparations, while environmental organizations are calling for the regulation to cover more products and natural areas.
