Description

The Ministers of Agriculture of the Southern Agricultural Council (CAS) met in Brazil during the G20 ministerial meeting in Mato Grosso. They stressed the need for international trade decisions to be based on science and highlighted the importance of biotechnology in addressing food security. They questioned EU Regulation 1115/2023, which establishes measures against deforestation, stating that such restrictions should be discussed globally, not unilaterally. They also addressed the inclusion of hazardous chemicals in the Rotterdam Convention and expressed concern about protectionism in agricultural trade.
