Description

The report presents initial progress in implementing a climate-smart agriculture and forestry strategy in response to President Joe Biden’s Executive Order 14008. It highlights the importance of collaboration among farmers, forest owners, local governments, and tribes to develop practices that increase climate resilience, sequester carbon, and improve agricultural productivity, while promoting environmental justice and the inclusion of disadvantaged producers. The strategy focuses on voluntary incentives and commits to integrating science-based approaches to quantify and verify the benefits of these practices. Recommendations include strengthening education, technical assistance, and market access for producers, ensuring that sustainable practices are accessible and beneficial to all communities, especially those traditionally marginalized.
