According to the author, the transformation of food systems is not only a matter of technological innovation, but a challenge related to governance and political economy. In this context, it is imperative to analyze the dynamics of power and control that shape the process, since these factors are determinants in the course and outcomes of food system transformation. Appropriate governance for a normative transformation of food systems must be pluralistic and multifaceted, incorporating actors from the private sector, government, civil society and citizens.
