Description
The Agroclimatic Technical Roundtables (MTA) are spaces for inter-institutional collaboration whose objective is to bring together actors from the agricultural sector, scientists, and governments to provide local climate information and recommendations to small producers. These roundtables allow farmers to access relevant climate forecasts and adopt best practices to mitigate the impacts of climate change on their crops. In addition, the MTA promote dialogue between technicians and farmers, helping to manage agroclimatic information and improve decision-making at the local level. In Mexico, 12 MTAs have been established in states such as Chiapas, Oaxaca, State of Mexico, Yucatán, Campeche, Puebla, Veracruz, Michoacán, Morelos, San Luis Potosí, and Baja California. The implementation process has been led by the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) and the Ministry of Agriculture (SADER), with the participation of institutions such as the National Meteorological Service (CONAGUA) and the National Institute of Forestry, Agricultural and Livestock Research (INIFAP).
