Description
The report highlights the achievements of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development during the period 2019-2024, focusing on food self-sufficiency, rural rescue, and the productive inclusion of small and medium-sized producers. Priority programs such as Production for Well-being, the Fertilizer Program, and the Guaranteed Price Program were implemented, which contributed to increasing the production of basic foodstuffs and improving food security in Mexico. In addition, a significant reduction in rural poverty was recorded, supporting more than 600 thousand farmers and 161 thousand fishermen and aquaculturists, mainly in the south-southeast of the country. In terms of sustainability, the report highlights the increase in sustainable agricultural practices among rural producers, with 77.1% of them adopting at least one sustainable practice in 2023, contributing to the preservation of agrodiversity and ecosystems. The report also highlights the dynamism of agri-food exports, which reached 51,897 million dollars in 2023, representing a growth of 48.9% compared to the beginning of the administration. Finally, the report highlights the implementation of policies to strengthen food health and safety, as well as market diversification, maintaining a positive agri-food balance for the country.
