Description
Addresses the discussion of energy security in relation to biofuels, and their demand and supply. In this sense, the agricultural sector in the Americas is presented as an intervener that not only contributes to guaranteeing food security, but also makes its contribution to strengthening energy security, such as; maturity and competition in their production costs, fuels of biological origin in competition with fossils; and on the other hand, the environmental commitments that play in favor of the sustainable production and consumption of biofuels, reflected in mandates for the use of biodiesel, bioethanol or both, in addition to the tax burdens that make fossil products more expensive. As a result, new opportunities are observed for expansion in the production of liquid biofuels on the continent to reinforce energy security. It presents the crisis in the natural gas sector as an opportunity to open policies that promote the use of biogas worldwide.
