Description

With the adoption of EU Regulation 2023/1115, the European Union (EU) aims to prevent the import of raw materials whose production is associated with deforestation after December 31, 2020. In order for their production chains to gain access to the European market, countries supplying raw materials must have two inputs: on the one hand, traceability systems that make it possible to reconstitute the path of products in their territories; on the other hand, environmental description systems and, in particular, deforestation monitoring systems. The purpose of this report is to provide inputs to the institutions of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay to meet this challenge. Report carried out within the framework of the AL-INVEST Verde program of the European Union.
