Report on the climate and country development in Brazil
Technical report
04/05/2023
Description
The report examines the implications of climate change and climate actions on Brazil’s development goals. It identifies how the country can simultaneously achieve its development goals and climate commitments through a combination of policy, sectoral and economy-wide reforms, as well as targeted investments in short- and medium-term mitigation and adaptation measures. The report highlights the importance of maximizing synergies between climate and development goals, while addressing key transition challenges and trade-offs between policy objectives. It is structured in five sections that address Brazil’s development context, the interactions between economic growth and climate resilience, the role of economic policies in the transition to more resilient and decarbonized growth, and key sectoral actions to align development with climate action. In addition, multi-sectoral policy recommendations and priority investments are included, along with financing options for the necessary investments.
