Description

Honduras is the third-largest producer of oil palm in Latin America, facing deforestation challenges and new EU regulations. In 2017, a multilateral platform was formed with government agencies, farmer cooperatives, and civil society organizations to create a Voluntary Agreement for Zero Deforestation. The pandemic and a change of government slowed down this process. The report details the progress, challenges and opportunities of the agreement, providing a roadmap to comply with the new EU regulations. Palm producers in Honduras are looking for inclusive sustainability that is balanced with nature.
