Description

Rangelands are vital for achieving Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) and sustainability. They support food security, livelihoods, and cultural identity. The UN has designated 2024 as the International Year of Camelids and 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists to raise awareness and promote sustainable management. Healthy rangelands are key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and commitments under global environmental agreements. The UNCCD’s report highlights the need for policy support, investment, and partnerships to improve rangeland conservation and management.
