Description

Six years from the 2030 deadline, efforts to end hunger and food insecurity (SDG Target 2.1) are off track, as are efforts to eliminate all forms of malnutrition (SDG Target 2.2). Billions still lack access to nutritious, safe, and sufficient food. However, progress in many countries provides hope for reversing these trends. Proper financing for food security and nutrition is essential to implementing necessary policies, investments, and legislation. While there is agreement on the need for increased financing, there is less consensus on how to define and track it. The report offers a long-awaited definition and guidance for financing food security and nutrition, recommending innovative financing tools and reforms. Establishing a common definition and tracking methods is crucial for sustainably increasing the financing needed to end hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition, ensuring healthy diets for all.
