Description
This study examines the role of public finance in decarbonizing and innovating the agricultural sector in the United States. The goal is to analyze existing gaps in public support for emerging agricultural technologies and propose policy recommendations to accelerate innovation and deployment of low-carbon solutions. The authors find that, unlike other sectors such as energy, agriculture lacks robust public financing mechanisms to support innovative technologies at all stages, from research to commercialization. They identify key areas where more support is needed, such as loans, loan guarantees, and tax credits targeted to low-emission agricultural technologies.
