Description

The first Meeting of Agricultural Federations of the Americas, organized by IICA and FECAGRO in Costa Rica, highlighted the importance of science, innovation and new technologies for the development of sustainable agriculture, increasing productivity and promoting agricultural trade transparent. The event brought together more than 40 participants, including experts and leaders of the agricultural sector from 14 countries in the region. The Minister of Agriculture of Uruguay, Fernando Mattos, the president of FECAGRO, Francisco José González, and the Director General of IICA, Manuel Otero, emphasized the need for investments in research and development, the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, and the creation of trade policies based on scientific evidence. They highlighted the urgency of addressing the challenges of climate change and food security through public-private collaboration and the adoption of innovative technologies.
