The report highlights that emerging economies have been the main drivers of the development of global agricultural and fisheries markets in the last 20 years and are expected to continue to be so in the next decade. It is structured in four main parts: the first part, Agricultural and Food Markets: Trends and Outlook presents key projections and challenges for agri-food systems in the next decade, the evolution of global agricultural markets in the last 20 years, recent market developments and macroeconomic and policy assumptions affecting agricultural markets. It also addresses trends and prospects for consumption, production, trade and prices. The second part, Regional Reports, analyzes key trends and issues in the agricultural sector in seven regions, considering regional aspects of production, consumption and trade projections. The third part, Commodity Chapters, describes recent market developments and medium-term projections for consumption, production, trade and prices of agricultural products covered in the report.
