Challenges and opportunities for the agri-food systems of the Eastern Caribbean States: Reading based on the indicators of the Public Policy Observatory for Agri-Food Systems (OPSAa)

The presentation addresses a comprehensive analysis of the current state and challenges of agri-food systems in the OECS region. It focuses on the need to adopt sustainable agricultural practices and improve productivity in the face of the challenges imposed by climate change, resource scarcity and external economic fluctuations. The importance of promoting intraregional trade is highlighted as a key mechanism to reduce the risk of shocks in third markets. This presentation was made within the framework of the Official Visit of His Excellency Dr. Didacus Jules, Director General of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy of Dominica , the Honorable Roland Royer who were received by Dr. Manuel Otero, General Director of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and Dr. Luis Pocasangre Enamorado, General Director of the Tropical Agricultural Research and Teaching Center (CATIE).
