Description

At the OECS Agriculture Ministers Summit meeting, the Director General highlighted the importance of advancing the implementation of the Food and Agricultural Systems Transformation Strategy (FAST). Given the growing incidence of climate change, which has caused record temperatures and significantly affected food production in the region, the need to move from the conceptual phase to rapid implementation of the strategy was emphasized. This includes taking concrete measures to improve food security and adapt agricultural production to new climatic conditions, ensuring the availability of essential foods such as vegetables and poultry products. The need for regional cooperation and the application of lessons learned on diversification, infrastructure, access to credit and strategic planning was highlighted.
