The Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee of the La Plata Basin Countries (CIC) is an executive body established by the La Plata Basin Treaty, signed in 1969, which includes Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. This committee coordinates and promotes the sustainable development and integrated management of water resources in the Plata basin, one of the most important water reserves in South America, covering approximately 3,100,000 square kilometers. The CIC focuses on fostering cooperation between member countries for the efficient and sustainable management of the basin, addressing issues such as water use, environmental preservation and the economic development of the region.
